So how you guys doing on here these days???

Guess with the official forum it's a little quiet, but if there is anything I can do for you guys then let me know.

The recent opens have been great. All fairly well attended, 14 at Dovestone, so people are getting to know each other, a bunch of regulars come to most events and we have been seeing more and more people new to the opens as well. Good turnouts with home fleets have swelled numbers nicely.

All in all things are progressing quite nicely I hope.

Anyway shout if there is anything I can do for you guys.

Best Regards

Wayne

This thread has gone a little quiet since we got our own forum, hasn't it? Well, just shows the class has caught up with the technology. Still, if it wasn't for Y&Y forum, I'd not have bought a Lightning. Lent her to a friend for a race yesterday - he got a perfect start and was 100 yards clear of the fleet by 1/2 way up the 1st beat! Luckily, he was hunted down by a few of the faster boats, or there would have been more handicap mutterings from Laser sailors...

Cookham Open this Saturday...17th July.

Should be a brilliant day for those taking part. Weather looking promising, good number of boats expected.

Can't make Cookham, sadly (teaching juniors), but the good news is we now have a Lightning fleet at Whitefriars. We have doubled the size of the fleet to........2...Ah, well, its a start!

Just a few days until the Nationals - hopefully after all the talk and boat buying, we'll see a good turnout! I think all the Y&Y Lightning sailors are going.

25 boats, so up 7 (I think) from last year. Howling on the Saturday (the windsurfers were getting plenty of air) light on the Sunday, so something for everybody! Northampton SC were fantastic, as usual.

A fantastic weekend! Excellent turnout, superbly sociable (i can't actually remember going to bed on Friday night!!) and some wonderful racing.

Monster wind that just seemed to come from nowhere at the end of race one, but - as you say Rupert - with a calmer, sunnier Sunday to send us all home, it really was a great weekend of sailing for all.

Well done to Louis for a very very well-deserved Nationals win. Another returning to the Lightning this year

looked a great event, but was a touch windy on saturday!

when i dropped in the afternoon, i was talking to a friend who was doing the supernova event. he loves it when its windy.
he did race one.
did not finish race two!
did not start race three!!!!!!

anyway was glad i dropped in, it was good to put some faces to names and great to see such an excellent turnout

its wonderful to see all the hard work done by members of the class is being rewarded.

Off to Haversham on Saturday for the inlands. I'll be starving myself for a couple of days beforehand to make sure I have room for the amazing lunch!

That was fun! 27 boats on a small lake made for some very tight racing.
