Hi all,

Just a reminder that the next Gul RS Grand Prix event is at Parkstone Yacht Club on the 30/31 July.

The increasingly competitive national fleet coupled with a strong home fleet of 7 boats will make for a great open.

First start is at 13:00 on Saturday with a briefing at 11:00.

Racing will be in the harbour so it will be good sailing without the extended sail out to the race area in the bay.

SI’s are not yet out but will be in line with the standard RS ones

Let me know if anyone is coming down on the Friday night.

Thanks,

Phil

I am coordinating a one-off showcase event during the RS Games- the RS100 Stadium Sprints- all to raise money for Cancer Research. It will be held on the first Thursday of the RS Games (The 18th)

It’s a good cause and  the 100 is a pretty spectacular boat for some flamboyant freestyle racing over short courses. After sailing at the EUROSAF Freestyle event I can tell you it is great fun for both spectators and sailors!

There is a campaign page here, please donate something if you can- you’ll be supporting Cancer Research, which I am sure you will all agree is a worthy cause

For more information on getting involved in this event as either a spectator, racer or sponsor please contact me at

Now it is the start of 2012 I guess a little info update on the RS100 is due...

2011 was a great success with very well supported open meetings, averaging about 20 boats at most events and a nationals of 47 boats.
I am sure that in 2012 we will surpass this number with a great open meeting calendar released. (For the full calendar see - http://www.rs-association.com/index.asp?fleet=RS100&selection=events)

We will again be holding events in Europe with an event in Holland on the 12-13th. Everyone that went will recognise how good the event was and how good it was to share with the Dutch 500 sailors, we will be doing this again this yr and plans are afoot to make it even better than last yr.
We will also be joining the rest of the RS fleets, sailing our European championships at Lake Garda between 16-19th June. As one of the biggest European events and something the RS100 class have been calling for this is surely going to be an excellent event!

The nationals are at Paignton on the Queen's birthday weekend of 2-5 July with a training day prior for those keen to hone their skills on the battleground.

Numbers are still growing with boats flying all over the UK and across the world. Sail numbers are nearly at 400 (388 is going out next week!)

July or June, Paul? The Queen's diamond thingy is in June, if that is the celebration you mean?

So go, who's getting a new coloured spinnaker? Blue or pink stripe now available.

Oh, and I've already got a blue one so the rest of you are going to have to pick another colour...

I'm sticking with the black and white - just looks so original and distinctive on the water even if were all the same !

Great fleet now growing in South Devon.

Who's up for the Euro Tour ? Holland and Como were awesome last year.

See you soon.

All plans for the rest of the year are fluid due to our continued inability to buy a house but I'm certainly planning on doing holland. Garda is looking less likely though I'm doing my level best to convince my other half that it will be at least as nice as como (do we know if they have endless supplies of pizza at the clubhouse? And will the staff be up to Sam's standards?).

I'll be doing the Weston winter series from next week in a desperate attempt to get into shape for the new Hayling season. If anyone's within range of HISC and fancies racing against numerous national, European and even Olympic champions (an that's just the 100 fleet!) then you're very welcome to join us!
