That K6 looks like a spreader or spreader bracket failure to me. Maybe the bracket because both spreaders look out of position.

that always was a weird looking mainsail on Havoc. seems to go fast enough though

Seen more than one 400 mast look a little like that, not quite so extreem but similar and seen a pic of a merlin with a carbon stick doing that sorta thing

Fer-lipping heck!  I had a look at a K6 mast and it did seem quite spindly...I suppose I could believe that it might do that with enough puff...quite impressive though!

Not quite as windy but damn good fun, me driving and Tom Vian crewing last Saturday at Draycote, F4 ish, 12' skiff, number 3 rig, 19 knots and big smiles!!

i have only had one mast do it, seen many of them do it though, Maybe im just lucky!

No  it's not photoshoped, have you never seen a mast do that before?? I have seen many a mast go that shape downwind, you obviously dont sail on windy days Mike.

The angle of the spreaders makes it look like the mast has twisted the opposite way to what you'd expect.

Would be interesting to see if the photographer took a series of photos

I reckon a second after that photo they had no mast.  It looks to me like it's just in the process of snapping.

Was anyone there? Anyone know what happened??

If you look at his website it is i nthe middle of the K6 gallery with no indication that it has been tampered with and is for sail at the same price of the others - can't see any motivation for him doing it - seems genuine. Pics are really good quality, some good ones elsewhere on the site too.
