To be fair, DS2 did post with the intention to bring balance to alleged nit-picking on the Aero thread.  They are valid questions, not all of us have such recent Laser experience to recognise this is as a run of the mill 'user error' for unstayed unarigs.

Anyway, on the other issue about 'getting back in', I will test capsize saturday and see if I can climb in over the side of the Zero.... you'll have to take my word for whether I can or not, as my GoPro bit the dust and I sold the replacement.

I shall be disappointed if I have to haul my ass over the back on every capsize whatever the wind strength, but hey, these are the prices you pay when you buy a re-written playbook.

Nice balanced answer

Looking forward to your views.

I see we have a new troll to deal with. After this post nothing shall pass my keyboard.
That was his decision but I can attest, from personal experience, that you can get in over the side of a D-Zero very easily when in the water after the boat has righted.

So it's a legitimate question to ask about the aero, but not the zero?

It has already been asked and answered if you care to read both threads.

It's legitimate enough but not that relevant, they did a lot of capsize testing early on, I watched it going on up at Grafham, I don't think it's much of an issue with the Zero.

If you're looking to wind them up talk about its offwind performance, going down the mine and getting wet sailing it, that should get a suitably defensive response.

To be fair, there was some capsize drills going on after the training on saturday, where everyone climbed back in over the side.  No idea why Graham climbed over the back to be honest.  I dont think it would be any easier.  Whilst we have an open transom we have a traveller in the way. Albeith its hardly an obstacle really.  One of the guys that came to Grafham for a demo was/is a Phantom sailor.  A big guy too he pulled himself over the side of the boat with the toestrap.  No problems whatsoever.  I think its on film some where, i will find out whats happening with the editing for you ds2, if you really want to see it?

Graeme that would wind me up to be honest yes.  Mainly because 1) Its a watersport, if you dont wan tto get a little wet then frankly take up knitting.  2) going down the mine is not a problem??  I have sailed the zzero in some pretty brutal conditons now  sure if you do not move back on a sharp bear away it will dig the bow.  Much liek if you hand your head over your handlebars on a bike whilst applying the front brake on a drop off you will go over the handle bars!  For and aft trim is as important as hiking in a dinghy.

Its a legitimate answer to ask in both threads.  Fortuantely in the Zero thread you will get responses from actual owners.  The aero guys have not posted here.  Other than Simon who has really only had a couple of demos....It is never going to be balanced is it?

Its all t*t for tat and frankly i am bored with it.

I do hope it does (same applies for the Aero)- otherwise I will be reaching for the phone to the next RS300 advert I see offering something far more exciting than a bob-a-long pedallo.

A few more than that in fact, but lets not get back into this.

Any boat with a relatively big sail trimmed wrong will capsize. The Dzero in 18 knots wasn't unstable in my opinion. Both it and the aero have good downwind stability and both gybed cleanly next to the old knee breaker.
