That's why you don't let the touch the water during the tack Look like you've got the entry to the tack sorted but need to be quicker to the wire/ other rack.

The phrase "Easier said than done" jumps to mind George.

Stepping backwards and discovering that there's no longer deck under your foot because the boat comes to a point at the back is a good one. The audience likes that...

Then if you tack standing up behind the main like I do there's catching the tiller extension on the leech so you can't get across the boat. That's a good one too. Roughly equivalent to fogtting to unhook on a trapeze boat...

Plus there are the more mundane ones like slipping off the side of the sliding seat... And of course if you let the boat heel too much beyond 45 degrees or so gravity beats the friction on the sliding seat and seat and you slide into the boat and your feet hit the water at about the same time that the mast tip does... And, and...

I knocked up a pastiche of Paul Simon once: 50 ways to leave your IC...

I've always thought canoes were cool boats, ever since doing a NSSA regatta many years ago and there was no wind.  My mates and I were all on the foredecks of our toppers swimming them back in, when an Int Canoe went by.  The helm was using his tiller extension as a paddle still going twice as fast as us!  And he had a mean mohican hair do.  The new DCs look great - are the rules finalised yet?

The new rule set is pretty much finalised. There'll need to be a vote, but so far there's not an awful lot of opposition apparent. BTW I think the change is unlikely to affect the spinnaker boats.
