Thats a pain. He/She should (undoubtedly will) call them first thing and I am sure they will be on it quickly. Not sure how they are constructed, but sounds like the bonding of the pot to the hull failed.

Some of our guys are pretty big and give the boats a real hammering in our rough sea conditions (like today) and almost to our surprise they have proved remarkable tough so far, some of the most trouble free new boats we have had in recent years in reality.

Saw a similar failure just off Hayling in the summer. Not close enough to see any detail but the mast was at a very sick angle and I can't think of anything else it could be. Let's hope RS don't have a QC problem and they can sort these issues out.

It was windy and very gusty but also it was a very early boat, so very much doubt it represents a design fault.

Sounds like a write off ...

If its not now I'm sure it will be after the RS boys have sliced it apart to see exactly what went wrong!

In the Words of Highlander "there can be only one"!

Actually there is only one, it was built specially I believe. It was at our open last year brand new.

Pretty sure that one is at Burghfield - Dark colours do need a bit more care but they do look good both on and off the water.  From memory it is in dark grey rather than black .... but just as quick !

It is Burghfield, this guy I follow on flikr jeremyC took it along with some amusing upside down antics of some old boy in a Blaze who looked vaguely familiar and high cloud like..

Can't think why that guy would be smiling at the struggles of one of his fellow class sailors..

With full acknowledgement to the same JeremyC on Flickr here is the same boat doing the highly advanced Aero dance where you have to turn 360 degrees within the boat dip your foot in the water then induce a nosedive. Only the most technically advanced of us can achieve such nirvana:-
