Correct he had gear failure and was a little gutted especially as the last race could easily have been the decider. Had Mike Hobin won and David not finished second he would have taken the meeting.

'It was not to be for David though as part way through the race his kicker decided enough was enough and let go leaving him no option but to take an early shower.'...

...shouldn't we now be sl*gging the D Zero for being unreliable?  LOL

LOL  I think the guys would be happy to highlight such a low and inexpensive failure rate for a 4 race open- testament to the quality of a devoti product sadly lacking in other manufacturers; (even on the works boats in some classes I could cite...)

But no doubt they'd be accused of hyping it up, or being a Phan-buoy or worse still, bored to death with a off topic PY discussion about multiple sail sizes....

For the record the webbing kicker strap on David's boat came unstitched.  That was the gear failure.

Very funny, I just looked that up thinking that it was a reference to the philosopher Godwin, father of Mary Shelly who wrote Frankenstien.....but no!

GRF and I are indeed brothers separated in childhood, however I was raised by intelligent liberal parents whereas he was raised by wolves, no bad thing in its self but it was a very dysfunctional family of wolves.
