... what and be shamed by having my ass handed to me by Russell?
No chance, I'd rather charter a D-One at a usury rate and personally send the photograph of me smiling when sailing it to Luca ;-)

James, i had my arse handed to me twice this weekend by Stu. It was absolutely perfect conditions for him. Fully powered and flat hiking. I just couldn't get near him. Even when nailing a start i was clear ahead fo the fleet and the little sod just skimmed past me. It was just absolutely plum his conditions. i think its the first time the little sh*t beat me in his life. I had even told him that every time he is cheeky i will beat him by another minute. I suspect in a drifter or in proper hiking conditions it will be a very different outcome.
Come on Jimbo, you should be aiming to be back on the water by then me ol china!!

I think the parties involved with this. Who have given their time up for free to get this work done deserve a big pat on the back (and definitely a beer or 2). Having set up a couple of associations in my time (non sailing related) it is not easy especially getting the paperwork right so you can get the right kind of bank account and tax status and approval/recognition by the relevant stakeholders. Having the RYA approve the class is good, it is our governing body saying we like what we see. There are a range of benefits which the class may never use but are always useful to have there (legal advice being one of the most useful ones, I am pretty sure Hunts has made use of that in the past). Unlike other recently launched classes the D-Zero class is an amateur run class. Those involved will be doing it for the benefit of the boat and to get the class the exposure it certainly deserves. As for the EN comment, I am pretty sure we have been told that until there is some data in the system an EN will not be published and it is down to clubs to issue a TN in line with the PY system usage documents..... Having an affiliated CA does not get you a number (it may have been true a few years ago, but would appear to not be now). Perhaps the PYAG people who lurk round here might care to pass comment?

Jim already has, there is no direct link between the release of an EN and affiliated class status.
Naturally as you have folks actually out sailing their own boats- all without any confusion over the rig size etc, And there some folks passionate enough to get it affiliated because you have generated that demand between yourselves, it stands to reason that your EN will not take 'that long' to process through the correct procedure. Well done to those who've done it, but if Russ thinks I'm going to be his patsy so he doesn't come last at the first nationals, he can think again- perhaps Fuller might be a better candidate, he can be bought cheaper ;-)

I've already been given the green light to go to Highcliffe on my own! Not sure GRF would be any good in the Devoti v Musto tug o' war. Maybe the limbo dancing...

Unfortunately I am not going to be able to get to Highcliffe, it is my daughters first birthday on the 19th June.

It's a lovely part of the world for a family outing Paul - you'd only be on the water for some of the day...

Dorset is a fair hoof from me but it is something that might be a consideration..... I could always come for the Sunday if I can persuade someone to transport my boat for me!

The Yoof had a Laser Qual down there earlier in the year.... lovely place... truly beautiful, with racing a fair distance away from shore in some entertaining lumps. Very friendly club that made us all most welcome in its cosy bar. Pub next door did nice food that you could take straight across to the club to eat.
Good venue. |

Yep definitely a good venue. Had the phantoms a few years ago. Made us very welcome. Just watch out for the mad landlady in the b&b near the Quay. Can't remember what house it was but look at the phantom forum for that nats and you'll find out.
I had busted my knee up so couldn't sail so was in a rib photographing it and helping out with mark laying. Nice rise line running right through the course so you may be able to just classify it as the solent. Engine caught fire on our rib on the second day. Worrying. |
