Not being as good a sailor as all others on this forum, does anyone know what it is like on its side? Does it turn turtle? Does the 'no gunwale', styling matter? Is it easy to get back in?

I agree with that, forgotten how nice it is to just whack everything together and go for a sail, no worry about forgetting to tie something on the correct way, which pin the shroud should of been on and then thinking im on the wrong setting all race. just get in a sail. Its the epitome of KISS sailing.

Sort of linked to all this string discussion, but for different reasons for me at least. The one reason I have put my deposit down on the D0 is exactly because it is clutter free and simple. I had a very serious entrapment incident a couple of years ago in my Phantom with a capsize that quickly went turtle with me taken down under it, with max kicker on. It was all the damned spliced ropes criss-crossing half of the cockpit that wound around my feet that took me down, and so nearly put me off sailing completely (nearly put me off everything!). So, thanks Dan, keep it simple and string-free for the production boat and this should do the trick !

hardly moaning, merely observing.... I actually applaud RS, they're getting their timing right, most dinghy sailors are a lot more than 6 years out of date...

Yes they are all optional so it's just a case of moaning for the sake of moaning.

I didn't notice the mountings n the Aero. Are they an optional extra?

I was quite impressed by that as well, it was before I really knew you, I remember thinking oh, he looks as if he knows what he's on, just goes to show eh? Big mistake everything you did after that..

All those things fall into 'novelty value', and to me, are 6 years out of date... but this is fashion-stuff, and frankly, it really is an each to his own opinion on such matters. As you say, I'm sure RS has some research/feedback for its inclusion. My Phantom, in 2008 - all that gadgets and crap is not what I'd want now in 2014, and for many, not what that they'd have wanted back then either. ![]() Edited by yellowwelly - 19 Mar 14 at 10:09am |
