I remember the good old days, when half the time you wouldn't do the sums you needed for something because it took so long and guess instead.
Of course now every business has spreadsheets that half the time may as well be guesses because they give the wrong results due to inadequate testing.

and they say two wrongs don't make a right?  Combine the above with the fact that half the 'times taken' were guesswork as we'd forgotten to record when 'Laser Bob' crossed the line anyway.

Ahhh, it was far better back then.

Days of yore? That's how they still do it at Hythe, and they use this giant old peoples calculator with big numbers on it, then again the blokes doing it still use those steam phones with black & white screens and have a guess what sort of boat they sail, yep a Merlin.

shame the commodore forgets to take the envelope marked 'RYA Returns' to the post box, but then he's probably too lagered-up driving home to remember.....

Of course they're doing it, they're figuring out ways they can overcome their on water humiliation by old windsurfers, or ways they can handicap us still further..

I can't wait to tell them the Merlin is now 973 at Great Lakes they will be so pleased, exactly what we all think it should have been sailing off all along whilst they stole all the clubs chocolates..

Commodores don't dirty their hands with all that grubby handicap stuff, they're too busy changing the toilet rolls and interviewing cleaning ladies..

Who woke IGRF up - he's obviously been beaten once too often by those all too excellent Merlin Sailors in their stunning showroom techfest boats - who rightly wouldn't sail one of those ironing board thingys with a sail if it were the last option on earth....... they have far too much style ...... style GRF? .... do you know what that is?  Wink

Hi Martin

Careful there ... he might get started on the Finns yet !  There are more than a few parallels don't you know.

Mind you thinking about it there are some similarities between boards and Finns ... (embarrasing for both perhaps) you both allow pumping don't you ?

You lot must however be fitter than the board lot though.  Some might even think you got enough exercise already ...... simply getting the loaded trolley down to the shore before you hit the damp stuff.  Wink

Why here of course, to be lectured on style by a Finn sailor something that has clearly been missing from my life..

Finn style isn't that na oxymoron

Now where do we start

OXY - short for oxygen - a giver of life ..... good news
MORON - a retired board sailor - a giver of advice ...... bad news

Finn and style .... I've never confused the two ..... looking good and brilliant sailing don't neccessary go hand in hand ..... eh GRF (could sum you up - possibly)?

I now sail a D-one - whcih is as good as a finn upwind, faster downwind, light to handle - BUT
the wings have the looks of a Vulture waiting for its next meal .... not pretty. Still love sailing it though

Merlins .... pretty, tecchy, great to sail and a good handicap ...... can't say more really

Boards ..... ermmmm .... shouldn't say more
