....oooo and do any british makers make the 12ft skiff, i want one, they
look immense! or are they import only?

Well almost. If you go here:
http://
www.aardvarkracing.co.uk/avt3/

You will find someone how will make you one. Or get yourself on the UK
Cherub web discussion group as there are a few members that have
investigated bringing some over or have made there own. Chap called
Simon
Robert's has one and sails at Draycote he may help. this is the link for the
list:http://
www.sailingsource.com/cherub/chframe.php

Without trying to sell you Cherubs. You should try out one first as it's as
close as you will get over here without lots of grief. i.e quite allot of clubs
are going to have an issue about your fixed bow sprit, and rigging on
your side ( god knows it hard enough for us ) with a boat that is
something like 29-ft long does limit your clubs. the UK Cherub's new rig
is essentially a No 2 or No 3 12 ft skiff rig but the 12 carries a much
bigger kite with this ( although this bigger kite size isn't necessarily
quicker - see Andy Rice, Roll Tacks article a while back). the Skiffs drop
down to our old size rigs at about 20 knots. the old rig was 12.5 sq. up
wind. but carry our new kite size 21 sq. in that weather. Our new rig size
is 15.5 upwind 21 kite.

Hope that helps.

Pics of my mates Super Taipan nearing completion.  This should be perhaps the quickest boat 20 feet or under at the world has seen.  And with the exception of the C Class.....  The quickest off the beach boat.

that just looks stupidly fast, and roughly for those who were asking, a new moth from full force, will set you back just under £7000 with foils i think, and that is tricked with a KA sail and a windrush mast from OZ all included in the price aswell as all the setting up of the boat and aerofoil section wing tubes and a boat not far off 30 kg all up!

Un know and un tested as yet.  I'd expect it to be a few minutes quicker arong the course every 100 than a T and a bit quicker than the M20.  This boat will be racing head to head with some good Ts, Bundock for one and will find tough competition against the Forbes M20.  Time will tell but it is lighter, wider and more sail area than an M20.  As the wind increases and the Ts find their legs, the gap will be a lot closer.

TA, Looks good (did not have time on the other forum to comment yesterday).  I really like the look and the reduction in all up is going to help too.

It is obvious that it will be quick in the light stuff, what are the all up weight/plate area etc.  Has anyone tried plugging the numbers into the SCHRS calc. we use here in the UK : www.schrs.com ?  Would give some idea of that it will do (in theory).  I have a copy of the spreadsheet calc I could e-mail to you if you like !

to give a ball park figure you need to have :

Mainsail area (including mast) and luff length

Jib SA and Luff

Kite area

All up weight

Plate length and area

LOA and LWL

Wanna learn to Ski - PM me..

I've asked Macca to post specs here so hopefully he gets it.

Anyway in Oz an 18' skiff rates at 68 YVC yardstick.  Tornado @ 65 without carbon mast.  I'd expect the Super Taipan to be low 60's.  Maybe about 62.

The Taipan should Vs T.....  be about the same speed up wind, bit quicker in lighter winds.  Would not be much quicker downwind but much better VMG.  Light to moderate wind is where this boat should really excel.  Around the cans this will make quite a difference.
