North sails are sponsoring the pro sails for the next leg, so those will be free again.  The new toy is a set of instruments that sit on your desktop, (think they work on an rss feed) that give you a constant readout of what your boat is doing.  I can see my work rate slowing even more with that one!

Phil,

I read that on the site last night when I updated my course.

I'm only able to play on my home PC or on my work PC when I'm connected to someone else network! so I wont bother with any of the additional instruments.

Probably explains why I'm still in 24500th.

You only get the full read-out if you've paid for the "full package" (full complement of sail repair kits, autopilots etc).

I freaking love this game!  But there's no way I'm springing for the buyable options.  And if they take away my light spinnaker on the next leg, I'm quitting...
Or maybe buying it but being peeved about it.

How much are the extras ? I've signed up for the Vendee Globe version, (You could say I missed the boat on the VOR) It doesn't seem to give much info until the race starts on Sunday
