I think that sounds a really nice touch.  Well done for Rodney and Dan for doing that.... not sure many designers would have the bottle to put their prototypes on a stand and demonstrate such clear vision from conception to execution.

Dan said he is looking forward to getting her back out on the water too. The boat has been in Valencia for the last 2 years.

I too thought the Punk added interest, though I did confuse one interested party in saying that it featured underfloor heating when I meant underfloor sheeting. Emoticons

Nothing new about that sort of observation. Between the wars the old Great Western Railway used to sell jigsaw puzzles, books and other examples of what we would now call merchandise, all carefully targeted too put the company in a good light and make the public want to take holidays in their area, that sort of thing. The president of an American railroad, hearing this, said to his English counterpart "Do you mean to tell me that you make the public purchase your advertising?"

The Devoti/Suntouched/D-One/D-Zero stand was manic Saturday pretty much from when the doors opened until I left at around 4pm. Despite having my baby daughter in tow I managed to speak to a few people and there were always 4 or more D-Zero people speaking to people.

I know there colour of the second D-Zero was the cause of a lot of discussion but it definitely caught the eye. A lot of people liked seeing the Punk there too and looking at the evolution of the design from the Punk through to the production D-Zero.

I thought it was great, the only bad point was that I knew too many people and didn't have enough time to talk to everyone. I thought the OK's looked fab in wood! I really wanted to find out more about the class going back down a wood route, with the top 2 at the worlds being wooden boats.
The devote/suntouched stand was hectic, which must have been good for them.
One thing that was said to me by two non sailor girls looking pretty by a certain car stand, was "I cannot believe all these fools pay £15 to come in and let us try and sell them things". Now I have been to shows in all sorts of industries and paid to get in and never looked at it that way. When put to me like that, it does seem pretty odd haha

I might have got the wrong end of the stick on which one you thought was going to be more expensive - I thought you were referring to the Zero - I think we may be in agreement on this!

Well that is my take on it ... if the RYA run it to try and bring people into the sport then I don't think that is working ...

That's exactly the way it is, little really has changed since Pickets Lock from a conceptual perspective, which is really its appeal on the one hand and why on the other it is such a delightful example of how exactly not to run a show or 'promote' your class, John Cleese couldn't make a more entertaining how not to promote yourself video..
