If the defining factor of a new class is a handicap number then you're all sad b**tards who need to get a life...

Especially in the case of boats which are as beautiful and groundbreaking as the Zero and Aero!

This thread has changed pretty quickly from happy people discussing their lovey new boats to something weird.
This whole thing seems to have kicked off from a headed note paper PY list that was explained by the chairman of the PAYA committee & by Bas Edmonds as unofficial & released by mistake. There is no "actual" Number yet so it appears to be all a bit "storm in an imaginary tea cup" based on a huge wave of fear of the boat NOT being a bandit. Less talk & more sailing - that's the way forward. |

certainly two fine looking boats, and from what we saw today at the Battle of Classes, well sorted and quick. ![]() |

Is it just me or does the Zero look miles better than the Aero in that photo (rig, boom angle, hull) ? It just looks 'right' |

It does look good rich doesn't it! Sadly, the boat looking quick doesn't stop Dan missing a mark! Made hard work for Dan, but he beat the Aero in the end. Sounded like good racing against a couple of great sailors.
Well done to the 300 class, results didn't show sailor name but I'm guessing it was Steve Bolland?

That is a comment I have had from people watching me sail. they say it just 'looks right' when being sailed. I loaned it out for the last club race yesterday and was impressed at how good it does look from the outside (as well as feeling nice on the inside of course). The guy who borrowed it is now trying to work out how he can buy one!

Correct and amen to that. We had 49 boats out for the Barts Bash race yesterday with 42 classified finishers. Some of these were kids doing their first race. It made for a very busy start line and course but was great fun. Some other Hunts members were also sailing at other events (we had at least 3 at battle of the classes and another who went and sailed with his brother). Still not a bad turnout for a small inland club!

For what it is worth - the GPS tracking data puts Dan around 2 minutes behind top RS300 sailor Steve Bolland. It looks like Dan lost 40 secs by missing the channel mark and returning
