Who Cares? The only true form of racing is fleet racing!

Handicaps racing is a flawed science that is totally venue and wind specific - Move on...

It is not just wind conditions that change things its wind condition/location. We would be happy to sail Tasar off 1023 at  Queen Mary etc. and take on Phantoms. I am sure that this is Merlins main point.

Simon you are absolutely right (and obviously a Phantom sailor), it doesnt mean we have to accept it!  Most of my racing is at open events, but i do like doing the major handicap events and the winter series at another club.

That is, I am led to believe, 'measured area' ... is this different to the actual area ?   If different what is it ?

Would have thought the Phantom Fireball sail being pretty triangular doesn't have huge chunks of secret size added in which i think is what is be alluded to here! These sails have been around since time immemorial so any mysterious power advantages would have been spotted by now!
