I've just got a laser again after a 10 year break sailing lots of other things, like most boats it has its little niggles (even a 25k five-oh will have aspects you don't find perfect for you) but they are fundamentally fun, simple and cheap to race.

Glad this thread has surfaced again.

I was trying to rig Lasers at SailLaser in Weymouth last weekend - what a faff! Putting the mast in was fine, but why on earth can't the controls just be ready to hook on? Makes no sense at all.

I've not read the class rules - does it HAVE to be like that, or can you set things up in different ways, so long as you have the right no of purchases?

there are a few things you can do but you are not allowed to hook the cunningham to the clew.

In reality I can go from packed away to ready to sail in less then 10 minutes with mine as I have rigged it for speed of rigging (and making sure everything works of course).

Plus the ones at Sail Laser are rigged for speed rather than having a useful control (well they were when I last saw them).

There was rope everywhere! I think if I were running the place, I would have trained my staff to rig the boats with the customers, too, rather than to stand around chatting amongst themselves while all the head scratching goes on, but that is a different problem...

Definitely. I know of someone who is relatively high up at Sail Laser so i will (anonymously) pass that comment on. I am sure the staff should help!

Why would you want to hook the Cunningham to the clew?

I'd hook it to the tack, I think...
