Indeed. Why the need to try these things so young? I wanted to be a train driver when I was 6, but even Jim couldn't fix that for me
 . Wanting to sail arond the world is an entirely good goal, but the desire to be the youngest just smacks of attention seeking but with a rather pointless aim. And 13 is stupidly young to try such a thing.

I think she's still living at home, but the parents have no legal right to make decisions for her, for a couple of months anyway.

Have you seen her yacht? I thought it would be something like the current standard round-the-world Open-whatevers, not the sort of 28 footer you might pop across the Channel in!

I wouldn't leave my thirteen year old alone in the house for the weekend, let alone let her head around the for a year - true, there's less chance of parties and house damage on a boat but still
