I have just got a nice shiney Europe and the guys who shipped it over from the USA (it's ex us Olympic kit) put all the best looking bits with the boat I got.  What his means however is the very pretty Mastrom Board is slightly too fat for the case! By slightly I mean I can push it down and move it but it is scratching the varnish on the Board.  Should I just accept this (very pretty board!! ) try to slim the board slightly and revarnish or try to widen the slot a little?

Any ideas??

I might be sailing it, but it's still sh**e!

i would geuss making the board narrower would be more risky than making the slot wider as if you narrow the board theres the risk it could end up assymetric.

and noone can see the inside of the case whereas if you adjust the board and it ends up not looking sonice next time you swim everyone will see it.

No, surely it's much easier to make the board narrower? Is it the actual blade that is too fat, or just the bit that always stays inside the case?
Needs to sail more...

I think that you'll find that making the case wider will be a pain in the arse! In all our boats the case is laminated on a mould, and then built in when the boat is joined... apart from sand off all the gel on the inside to make it wider I can't think of another way to remedy it unless you want to cut you boat up and fit a new one?!

If it goes in and you can use it, leave it alone.

You just need to clean your slot or use a lubricant. The scratching will probably be dirt in the case.

P.S. It's not varnish.

im fairly sure this happens with most new boards. For certain it does in all rudder stocks i have ever came across. (apart from the cool vertically loaded ones)

Maybe it's a necessary evil, so the board can be anglesd in the case. Or am I just imagining seeing Europes doing that...
