I'm guessing you wouldn't have been going to Uni to study English!

Your right in some respects, Uni was always supposed to be the pinacle of academic achievement and around 15% of people attended.  There's very little point in 50% of people having degrees if the only 15-20% of jobs are 'graduate jobs'.  However since everybody seems to be getting a degree if you choose not to get one I think you need to be able to offer something else to a potential employee.

ps. Don't get me started on the lack of science and engineering graduates.

Please don't comment on my English ability, through the reading of a post on a forum!  Having said that B grade at a-level isnt brilliant.

I didnt go to university and it was the right decision for me.  I earn more, have a MUCH higher profile job and a bigger house then nearly all of my friends that went to uni (apart from my trader friend in london)

You don't need a degree in life!

Depends what you want to do.

Working in The City, most job specs start "Degree educated".....

Couldn't think of anything worse than working in a city, horrible places!

Actually, I agree with you, but it pays for fast boats and fast cars.

Yes I hate the commuting, but it does mean I read a lot.

If I could get a similar salary elsewhere, I would work there

I think most science graduates are awaiting the day this shortfall kicks in and they are in demand and get paid properly!

Never understood that myself! I guess it's cause managers set wages.

I might be sailing it, but it's still sh**e!
