I am holding out for a MustoSkiff but there are some RS700 for sail at a very good price this year. The 700 has a bigger main, but will have to put lead weights in, to class rules, Im 84 kg .I would like to keep my RS600 ?

Depends where you are. the MPS/700 is on my list of things to do but the Irish fleet size is currently zero for both boats. With no fleet I may as well go for the cheaper RS700 (I am 90kg). Although my Hurricane could do with upgrading and the wife want a new suite for the living room, my three yr old daughter consumes most of my spare time, etc.

Probably best to try each if you can, I loved the MPS but really didn't get on with the 700. Amongst my friends opinions varied a lot, quite a few hated the 700, some really liked it. Most people preferred the MPS as I remember, though they were in arguably better condition. I can't think of anyone who disliked the MPS, even if they did prefer the 700. I personally found the MPS easier, though most people thought it was harder, but I had issues reliably tacking the 700, and just generally got frustrated with it!

English dave won't comment about the performance of boats but their is a strong mps fleet just over the water in Scotland/ Ne england where we you are more than welcome to ask the pertinent questions and you can easily come over to play. Even if it is in your twin hull thing!

Try both & choose ... although now you have the T shirt I'd have thought you'd made your mind up ... Some comments here from people who have owned both. http://www.mustoskiff.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=23

I sailed a 700 for 2 seasons and eventually defected to the Musto. The 700 was good and perhaps easier to sail up wind, but down wind with the kite the Musto wins hands down, it's faster, easier to gybe, easier to launch and drop, (once you master the technique of steering with you bum). The class association is excellent from top to bottom, everyone is very friendly and open with support and advice. Backup and service from Victor boats is also excellent. I just wish I was 20 years younger.

As some one who is jut an observer here... lots of talk about the 700 being harder with the kite? Ignoring the means of hoisting and recovering how else does it differ. Superficially they look very similar otherwise? Ian
