occasionally have the misfortune of sailing under PY in mixed dinghy fleet.

Any experience of hhat A Class cats are sailing on under PY?

This particular one has an SCHRS on 0.98. Taking the usual multiplier of
684, this gives 670. Crippling! Anyone sailing on more than this?!

At the moment we are racing PY in Cork harbour against the Tigers, we are racing off 691 which is working out just OK we could do with a bit more as the wind comes up.
My feeling is that we should have a PY of 701 this puts is between the Spitfire with 711 and the F18 Tigers 691, the Austrilain's PY reflect this and they have some of the best sailors in both these fleet racing under PY ( http://www.vic.yachting.org.au/default.asp?MenuID=Divisio ns/10631/0,Off_the_Beach_Yardsticks/10638/0 )

I hope the new updates to SCHRS helps us out or there is no point in going back to SCHRS for club racing here. Any news Simon on the updates?

All the best

We are in the process of refining the rule.

Once the group (about 8 of us) are happy that the rule now better reflects the real world, one of the Naval archetects who is helping us out will be writing a formal paper for the ISAF, we hope to be able to publish this paper at the same time as it is submitted to the ISAF.  The paper will address a number of areas (that have already been talked to death), but the main one is to include a "righting moment" portion to the rule (this will benefit most single handers).

Once the paper is submitted to the ISAF, they must discuss it and then agree it (or not).  Once this has happened, the rule will be changed (or not).

Timescales are currently to present the paper to the ISAF in the Autumn.

Thanks,

We are all doing it in our spare time, I'm the  the contact for the UK and can be contacted via simonl (at) schrs.org.

We have been very lucky in getting a couple of qualified naval archeticts to give us some time so the rule can be grounded in theory, but we also have been testing the proposals we have against how we as a group feel the various boats perform - this has lead to some heated discussions.....But progess is being made.

It will still HAVE to go to the ISAF.......
