Got lucky coming home from the Piers race last night. The drawbar on the Tornado trailer sheared in half and I basically ended up with two trilers. Happily it happened about a mile from home on a quiet road. I had just done an hour and three quarters on M25 A12 etc. Scary thoughts. I have been putting it off after the AA notified me my van was too big to be covered, but what breakdown cover does everyone use, especially now there are more and more vans out there. For reference mine is a Citroen relay Hi top and I suppose the Tornado trailer will be about 25 foot, though I have had problems with a Dart 18 mast and recovery firms |

Have a look at Boat Trailer Assist, who can provide a recovery service for the boat and trailer when in the UK.

Looks good, Pity it is only in the UK, but most of my miles are in the UK. Also would be good if they linked easily to the RAC cover for the van. But overall |

We had a similar experience when the wheel fell off the trailer on the Severn Bridge with 2 Hurricanes stacked up. AA man informed us that we were too big for his wagon and that we should have commercial vehicle membership (which I suspect is significantly more expensive). He very kindly them put the boat trailer onto the truck and drove us off the bridge where we managed to rebuild the hub. |

went to a Hobie event in Cornwall where one of the competitors was driving
a VW campervan towing a 16. Broke down after 10 miles of 200+ mile journey and got a lift all the way there from the AA. over 200 miles to the gallon, and a snooze to boot! |

Tornado435, It's not Jones, it's Fraser (the Scottish one at the pointy end) but that was an experience not sure the truck drived following us say the funny side though.
Tresaith Cat open is on 22nd & 23rd July and will be the usual racing & drinking event depending on the turn out and weather we'll probably include a long distance race. Anyone fancy coming along please feel free. The beach bar will be open from Friday night the dolphins are putting on a good show in the bay and there have been whale sightings very close by so should be a good one. |

Top of the hill, 5 minute walk to the beach. Really lovely place tresaith, used to enjoy the hurricane opens. Sorry Fraser, but it had to be one of you two and I just guessed. How are all the welsh mob? Think green hurricane for me! Crossed to the dark side and sailing tornado's now. Hurricane 485 is still for sale if anyone wants it |

Hi Phil, Would love a Tornado (or even a go on one) but you know those roads in Wales just aren't designed for 10ft wide boats, or the beach for that matter if we all decide to go and buy them. We have about 7 Hurricanes and a couple of Dart 16s on the beach now and still racing to the surrounding villages for a pint or three. Will let everyone know that there's a nice green 5.9 for sale. There is also camping on the beach itself if you don't mind roughing it, much easier to roll out of the bar and straight into your tent (and it's free). But plenty of local sites. I'll post an invite to the cat open here in case anyone is interested I know it's a fair old treck but I honestly believe it's worth it. And we've bought new marker bouys so you might be able to see the course now. |
