why dosnt everone make nor like this

bit long

Remote Control Sailing Boats
Jebel Ali Sailing Club

Notice of Race THURSDAY 15TH June

1.     RULES
1.1     The Regatta will be sailed under the:
•     The current Racing Rules of Sailing.
•     Current Class Rules of all single hull vessels. Cats are not allowed.
•     Notice of Race, unless amended by the Sailing Instructions
•     The Sailing Instructions.
•     Any subsequent changes and amendments with approval of the Organising Authority. (ie Grayden Thompson…so there!)

1.2     English will be the official language of the regatta. Swearing in English is allowed; no other swearing shall be accepted.

2     ADVERTISING
The regatta is designated Category (Z) in accordance with the ISAF Advertising Authority. (Guess this means that you can put what ever stickers you want on you boat… you can even call your boat Pricilla III if you are that silly)

3     ELIGIBILITY AND ENTRY

3.1     The regatta is open to the following boats;
•     Remote Control Sailing Boats and no others….. no exceptions, (even Corinithian class)

3.2     Proof of age will be not be required. (Although under three is not recommended, otherwise it could get messy out there.)
3.3     A minimum of 1 entries is required to constitute a race. Less than that would be really silly….. see prizes

4     CLASSIFICATION
If it is a remote controlled sailing vessel, it classifies. Propellor driven vessels are definitely exempt, and cats too. (And, although radio controlled, Bill Gates 120ft boat is also exempt)

5     SCHEDULE
5.1     There will be a maximum of 1 races during the regatta. (Probably 3 or 4 , TBA, maybe more …. Who knows).

Thursday 15th June.
Registration                      16:00 pm
Safety and Committee brief         & nbsp;16:00pm
Sailor’s brief         & nbsp;         & nbsp;        16:00pm
First Signal                       Not before 16;01

Note; normal sign on and sign off rules apply……. (Even for the JASC commodore)
A form will be provided.

Between races there will be an acceptable time allowed for rig adjustment, trimming and battery changes. (Rechargeable and long lasting batteries are allowed although frowned upon.)

6     MEASUREMENTS
6.1     Each boat, where applicable, shall not have to provide a valid measurement certificate. In addition the following will apply;
•     All boats may not carry national letters and sail numbers.
6.2     Substitution of damaged equipment will be permitted. Including entire boat…If wife permits.

7.     SAILING INSTRUCTIONS
The sailing instructions will be available on the JASC website www.jebelalisailingclub.com
They will probably not be made available to each competitor at registration.

The course will be laid on the day. Although Open 60’s would prefer a longer course outside of the harbour and around Palm Island this would be silly as they have the same radio range as the other boats.

There will be no handicapping, rougher sea conditions (in excess of 4cm wave height) would benefit the open 60’s regardless of course length.

The course will consist of a start line, set by designated wader, approximately 15 ft from the beach (or less if it is too deep for a wader). The start line shall be approximately the length of combined competitors boat lengths (ie 7 Metres), a windward buoy and a leeward buoy.

The finish shall be declared at the briefing. (But not less than 2 feet from the beach. (To avoid damage to boats and toddlers)

All competitors shall wear a certified life vest. (See Penalty system)

8     VENUE
Jebel Ali Sailing Club, Dubai.

9     PENALTY SYSTEM
For radio controlled boats 44.1 and 44.2 are changed so that only one turn, including one tack and one gybe, is required.

An independent adjudicator will be present who will adjudicate immediately upon a protest from a competitor who has a life and also a remote control. All other protests will be ignored. (nay … ridiculed)
The decision of the adjudicator is final and if required a penaly turn shall be done immediately after having sailed clear of the fleet.

10     SCORING

10.1     The scoring will be in accordance with the low-point scoring system as defined in Appendix A of the 2005 – 2008 Racing Rules of Sailing.

No discards are allowed over the series.

11     PRIZES
Prizes shall be awarded as follows
1stt Prize
Each competitor will pay a fee of 20 dhs. The winner shall receive a trophy of (Number of competitors x 20) Dhs. The winner shall be responsible for the payment of after dinner drinks (beer or cool drinks) for all competitors to the value of…. (Number of Competitors x 20 dhs – 5 Dhs)

2nd and 3rd shall be announced. These competitors must buy at least one round for all other competitors. Further rounds are optional.

12     DISCLAIMER OF LIABILITY
Competitors participate in the regatta entirely at their own risk. See rule 4, Decision to Race. The organizing authority will not accept any liability for material damage (including batteries) or personal in or death sustained in conjunction with or prior to, during, or after the regatta.

13     INSURANCE
Not necessary although if you have it…..very sad.

14     FURTHER INSTRUCTIONS
The addition to start shall being according to current Racing rules of sailing. The stat flags will be flown from the JASC flag pole. A horn may or may not be sounded depending on whether we can find someone to do it.

Class flag is will be announced during the Sailors brief probably a G flag (for GEEK)

Competitors may control their vessels from any land surface surrounding the race course. RIBs are definitely not allowed, as is snorkelling and SCUBA gear.

My only quibble is with the use of an adjudicator. One of the main joys of radio command regattas is the hearing of protests before an irate audience of competitors who are waiting for the result of the protest to decide who is going to sail the next race. One of the best blood-sports I know of:

Get a real protest committee- they'll do wonders for the bar takings!

Surely you dont need a whole server to run your mainsheet? I feel simpler tends to be less prone to breaking and probibly lighter too in this case.
