Saw this on another site, sounds like an interesting alternative to the Aero and Hero...

Following the recent announcement of the Ozone class of singlehanded racing dinghy, incorporating bother the Aero and Zero, H2O boats are delighted to announce the launch of their Hero dinghy. Fully compliant with the class rules, Hero is 4.2m long, 1.45m wide and weighs in at 55kg on the water. The most remarkable thing about the boat, however, is the near bullet proof construction. Made from a revolutionary recyclable reinforced thermoplastic, this is the toughest, greenest boat in the class. Hi tech carbon spars and purpose designed foils complete the package and our special introductory price of £4,600 is valid for the first 100 boats.

I have experience of this type of construction and can verify that it can be very good indeed, the fibres are made of a really light hollow cellulose tube with a molecular construction similar, in structure  at least, to graphene. It has worked well in other industries but I am surprised to see it used here!

I saw a similar model in timber by CO2boats but this one went up in smoke.

So that's where all the good men have gone?

I liked the optional extra upgrade to Barton fittings.... better than those god-awful Ronstan Orbits fitted as standard.

I have to say the cuben fibre radial cut sail is genius too...  Riki@RS should take note.

I believe this to be an early prototype, note the upper view of the use of winglets for leverage and stability, and the experimentation with differing surface coatings.

An alternative perspective of the winglets:

Where have all the good men gone
And former sailing gods?
Where's the spreadsheet Hercules

To fight the rising odds?

Isn't there a mylar sail upon a fiery steed?
Late at night I post and I moan and I dream of what I need.

I need a hero.

I'm holding out for a hero 'til the end of the night.
It’s gotta be strong

And it’s gotta be fast
And it’s gotta get a handicap right.

I need a hero.

I'm holding out for a hero instead of wood-en boat sh*te.
it’s gotta be cheap

And it's gotta be now
And gelcoat that’s brighter than life!

Brighter than life.

Somewhere after sunrise

upon the Northern Sea
Somewhere just beyond the reach
there's someone reaching straight past me.

Perching on the side decks and rising with every gust.

It's gonna take a super-boat to satisfy this lust

I need a hero.

I'm holding out for a hero 'til the end of the night.
It’s gotta be strong

And it’s gotta be fast
And it’s gotta get a handicap right.

I need a hero.

I'm holding out for a hero instead of wood-en boat sh*te.
it’s gotta be cheap

And it's gotta be now
And gelcoat that’s brighter than life!

Up where the old folks meet the sport above
And their Solos split the sea
I would swear there is someone, somewhere

Watching me.

Through the wind and the chill and the rain
And the storm and frosty droughts
I can feel its approach

Like my hikers round my sprouts.

I need a hero.

I'm holding out for a hero 'til the end of the night.
It’s gotta be strong

And it’s gotta be fast
And it’s gotta get a handicap right.

I need a hero.

I'm holding out for a hero instead of wood-en boat sh*te.
it’s gotta be cheap

And it's gotta be now
And gelcoat that’s brighter than life!

Brighter than life.
