Looking at the above photo - has anyone been sailing when its so stupidly cold that the wet sail freezes in shape?
or the control line freeze? i had my main sheet freeze in a few places on xmas day, made it a bit difficult getting the rope to go thu the block |

Easy enough to do mate. Borrow a Cherub jig - the Slug is probably the best bet, build a hull, order up a rig (same size as the converted Cherub 12 which has been mentioned here before which is alos a SLug design) put it together and learn to sail it. Be a sight cheaper then buying one from Ovington! Come that there are a few builders about who could do you the shell or bare hull as well if you wanted a short cut, Bloodaxe and Aardvark spring to mind. When the Kiwi dollar was really low against the pound it would have been cost effective to order a new one from NZ, and even now its probably not way over what the cost of a UK built boat would be. Better to get a Cherub aand learn to sail that first though! Edited by JimC |
