I put that sheet together a long time ago, prob at a similar time to the solution's launch, so the PY for that would've been less than mature.

1070 brings it a long way back from bandit territory and towards the black line! Although I still reckon you could do damage with that at some light wind handicap opens!

JohnW - Yes Bill Mc. is still leading the fleet! I shall pass on your regards to him. No disputing his ability, though there are some lesser mortals who seem to be able to win just because they're sailing an Albacore...

After racing against the new streaker in my Byte c11 they should be using 1101py the seem to be alot faster than the Byte using a prov PY of 1140.  They seem to be about the same as a laser radial. The older streakers using the older style sail/mast and boom seem to be ok on 1162. Is this class turning into a development class, whats next, carbon mast and boom and still using 1162!!!!.

A development class?? One hull shape. Exact sail dimenions and
restriction on materials (Polyester scrim only). Very untechnical,
untapered mast only from specified manufactures. Their class assoc
are even having a debate as to whether a full centre main should be
allowed as opposed to having the mainsheet run to the back of the
boom. Can't really see anything development about it.

hmm, Doug, I don't think you'd be quite so sure if you saw the difference between my boat and yours!
the same, but different...

No different to a topper really......
It wasn't originally made of injection moulded plastic, it had a much thinner
boom, the change to centre sheet and changing the rule to allow longer
tiller extensions. And most recently the new sail which is quite different to
the one I had used when I sailed toppers. I don't see anyone calling a
topper a development class though.

Hmm.... that sounds a bit snappy, it's not meant to be. I fully accept the
streaker has evolved but it's in an attempt to keep with the times. It's not a
class open to be developed how someone might like.

No - the main difference is that yours has a false floor, meaning that if you capsize your hull doesn't fill like a bath tub and sit in the water totally swamped.  If I capsize then effectively, my race is over, because even the self bailers won't work there is so much water in the boat.  My only hope is a large hand bailer or bucket.

Of course the streaker isn't a development class in the real sense, but the new boats are quite different to the new ones, in the same way my classic phantom bears no resemblance to the ovi ones.

For my part, I do think the developments to the streaker have been a good thing, and I would welcome a fully centre main too.  It's a sweet little boat; I only wish I were light enough to race it competitively!

Indeed you're right, a fantastic improvement to the boat but one that was very hard fought over I believe.
Well done to the class for having the balls to go for it and accept some change.

I absolutely agree. It has brought back some class racing at DYC.

With more club class rather than handicap racing, there should be less PY
moaning- not that some of it isn't justified!
