Well-marked streaks of foam are blown along wind direction. Considerable airborne spray. Cat description: Gael Force Editor of Y&Y. Not much else to say, any dinghy sailor going-out is a dickhead who could potentially encourage the fun police to start legislating our beloved sport. Any sailor launching in these conditions deserves to have their profile photo photoshopped into Britney Spears ¡®upskirt¡¯ before being unceremoniously drummed out the brownies by printing it slap bang in the middle of Roll Tacks. Cat sailors got out for "A play" some go swimming.
Weapon of Choice: Hurricane BF 9: Description: Strong gale Wind Speed: 41 ¨C 47 knots Sea State: High waves whose crests sometimes roll over. Dense foam is blown along wind direction. Large amounts of airborne spray may begin to reduce visibility. Y&Y description: Noble Marine Force Okay you¡¯re not sailing, but your boat might be- tie the f*cking thing down please. Noble premiums are kept lower if we all tie our boats down. Weapon of Choice: Insurance Docs, Pint Glass and a warm pub BF 10: Description: Storm, Whole gale Wind Speed: 48 ¨C 55 knots Sea State: Very high waves with overhanging crests. Large patches of foam from wave crests give the sea a white appearance. Considerable tumbling of waves with heavy impact. Large amounts of airborne spray reduce visibility. Y&Y description: Armageddon Do not leave the house, if the roof comes off shelter under the kitchen table. Weapon of Choice: Michael Fish¡¯s Meteorology in 1987 and an Anderson Shelter BF 11: Description: Violent storm Wind Speed: 56 ¨C 63 knots Sea State: Exceptionally high waves. Very large patches of foam, driven before the wind, cover much of the sea surface. Very large amounts of airborne spray severely reduce visibility. Y&Y Description: mild domestic When driving out of LDC remember to screw up the receipt and throw it out of the car window. If wifey finds out how much your new hikers, rash vest and harken mainsheet block cost you may find yourself in the middle of a Violent Storm. This is not good for getting sailing tokens. Weapon of Choice: Flowers & Chocolates BF 12: Description: Hurricane Wind Speed: ¡Ý 64 knots Sea State: Huge waves. Sea is completely white with foam and spray. Air is filled with driving spray, greatly reducing visibility. Cat description: Cat Sailor from Brightlingsea who's jib's explode at the Grafham cat open. Actually Al Yes, thats what i ate on my date with Dr Gillian!
More to the point its the young guns posting the old "whilst out single handing my dads 18ft skiff in a f7 the other day, i strugled to wire to wire gybe. The Bag drops were not a problem as i have been sailing for a year now, but the wire to wire gybes were a struggle with me only nailing 9 out of 10. Is it because i have a QR harness" |

Thats the one Jimbo although i think my early quotation of the post is a bit more closer to what was said? Dont these posts normally next go on to something like: " I am about to take my driving test, and i have saved up enough money for my new car. I have £34,000 to spend on the car and insurance. What i want is something i can tow my boat with and sleep in the back of. I was thinking of a BMW X5 or maybe even a Audi Q7. I wouldn't want a Volvo XC90 becuase of their ties to that horrible youth circuit and those damned chopped strand polyester resin boats. So what do you think?" Usually followed up with a post a little later explaining why they have bought a G plate Citroen AX and how it will tow said boat up any hill at 95mph whilst returning a healthy 65 MPG. |
