Just bought a 700 cheap from LDC, after my exams are over I will have to have a go at pimping it, any advice for a new "pimper"?

First tip, buy an RS300

But seriously, anything thats different, Or is just for show, with no real benefit to how the boat sails.  i.e. Something different for footstraps.

saw a pic of a big yacht once that had what appeared to be a chrome plated hull, y'could look into that...

ah, now there's several like that- "chrome" vinyl wraps. Definitely pimp.

Things that are pimp: using those Allen Bros. 49er spinnaker turning blocks for other purposes. They're hilariously expensive- but they're are gold coloured.

The brass hook we've fitted for closing the spinnaker bag.

Alex and i have 2 gold blocks on the kicker on the B14 looks rather pimp but ccant be seen cos of the sock :(

Saw them at Stokes bay before he put them on. He seemed dead pleased with them. They are the 49er ones. They're entirely over the top, and as you say, hidden. MEGA PIMP.

 so spend as much money as possible on things that make no difference? how about things that find loopholes in class rules? is that classed as pimping? I see that a lot of it is just about using the most over spec and expensive rope available too.... Is there such a thing as budget pimping?

no, that's bimbling, which is an honourable sport in its own right- as is bodging. Bimbling is coming up with a particularly effective way to run something that may be good value. Bodging is the "That'll do" school of duck-tape ninjitsu.Pimping is flashy and often pointless- watch the American "Pimp my ride"* to get the idea.

Hell, just watch "Pimp my Ride" (but not the UK version). It's a fantastic programme. If it doesn't have you howling "WHY?" at the TV, you've not been paying attention to it.

Yes ive seen pimp my ride but wondered if there was a difference between this and pimping a 700

Does spraying the trolley wheels in chrome paint count, after all it would be "phat chrome!" I will have to come up with some ideas for the boat though!
