there are also very early plans for a similar race
along the UK South Coast, and a plan on hold for a
Round Ireland race, both in cats.

l'Hydroptere just broke the Channel sailing record between Dover and Calais in just 34min 24s!

i crew a merlin too, although twin poles are great the bunjee means they retract fast, last time it smashed into my face and gave me a nose bleed, oh well it was worth it!
Needs to sail more...

I used to race a Scorpion and used twin poles.  Do you stow one pole before you gybe?

I wouldn't go as far to say you stow the pole before you gybe, but yes you do un-clip the pole from the mast, then gybe, then clip the new pole on, nothing to it .

Oh and tgruitte i know the feeling, a month or two after i'd started using them (just long enough to think i was getting good), during a gybe i managed to insert the end of the pole into my mouth!

even without a bungee i was taking the pole down from the mast and then putting it in to the boom i a big hurry because it was very windy in my haste i hit my helm in the face who was trying to drop the spinni all good fun tho
