No not quite, just the bottom bit, kind of a bench made from the
gunwhale overhang, like a playground swing affair, attached by wire with
maybe a guide so it returns home, maybe a bit of a buoyancy half circle
underside can't remember why I thought that bit.

The advantages would be no significant weight increase and the wire
supports the mast at the head, no need for sliding mechanism like the
Canoe or that Skate, other than making it work and the limitation of the
crew leg length, I can't think of any serious disadvantage.

Unfortunately I'm in a bit of a work frenzy mode at the moment so
haven't got time to draw it up properly, but I'm sure it's a viable
alternative to racks, trapezes and or sliding seat mechanism.

Edit PS I was seriously tempted by a canoe that was at the Dinghy show,
blue, all carbon jobby, couldn't see any way of steering it I guess there
must be a wiggle stick thing somewhere, it just wasn't apparent or do
they just use the force like us?

Well another way of explaining it is to imagine the two trapeze wires
attached to the side of the boat and the overhang bit you sit on detaches
and swings out when you need it to is I guess a simpler way of putting it.


Would you then need mast halyards?

Not sure, depends on how well the side locks back in I guess, could be a bit
of a disaster in a windward capsize if you are out on the swing wire, then
again no it should return to the hull if you fell off it.

Not sure, be an interesting concept to try out.

Instead of having a seaty thing hung from the hounds, why not have a sort of body harness  thingy with a hook in the front, and a loop on the string, this would be much simpler and lighter and easier to use. Or has this been done before ?

Here's my latest ( 46kg ) Int Canoe with an odd rudder linkage - rudder hung over the back, with the tiller further fwds. ( and two wiggly sticks )
Development class rules allow all sorts of silly ideas !
