....looks nasty,....had a similar ding comming off East Head and my Wife smacked her head on the down haul cleat, Claret everywhere. Fortunately not going as fast as those guys.

Been there, done that, had to do the daggerboard repair... Gurnard is a good place for that sort of thing: there seem to be some odd rocks further out than the main lumps (not to mention the Cudmore ledge of course) that catch you out.
Its worse when you have to come in, because the daggerboard won't come out until you get on land (and have a firm enough footing to put some real force on it) you have to tip the boat over in deep water. |
