Because the video is only 15 seconds long ... and the crew is only in the water for 4 or 5 of those ( That we can see ) . That could also be why they stopped filming ... To go help the crew out.

I think we are now in the right ball park.  Hydrodynamic resistance doesn't increase linearly, i.e add twice as much sail on the same hull, doesn't mean you go twice as fast.  Moths go so much faster as the hydrodynamic resistance is minimal when on foils compared with a hull in the water for the same sail area.  So the fact that the non-foiling windsurfer has a bigger rig should make little difference unless the drag coming of the foiler is equal to or greater than a conventional board.

Still looks good though

if the foils are wider than the board, it will be more stable sideways than
without them.

Foiling windsurfer - I'm not sure about this one, rig size shouldn't make that HUUUUUGE a difference - I think the issue has to do with having to keep the whole thing upright - if you really power up and get the rig up to windward, providing you with lift to relieve weight on the board, I think the board would just fall over to leeward. It's still cool, just a little bit pointless.

I made the foolish error of leaving my wetsuit at home in oxford and its hardly bordies and a rashie conditions up here! Wetsuits being posted up to me asap though so maby next time...

Small random kid was incredible... he rocked up when he saw us get some kites in the air in a brief period of breeze in the middle of the day having got changed and walked over from his house about 150m away. Living on a beach does funny things to levels of watersports skill it seems... We reckon about 11 and effortly showed us all up.
