We've not delivered any boats to institutions yet, all those 70 are racers. There are a number of holiday companies taking RS500s this year, notably both Sunsail and Mark Warner. Not only were we flat out for 2006, but the order book is full until early April this year.

I've both helmed and crewed the ones at Whitefriars, and can safely say the full orderbook is well deserved!

Thanks, it was very gusty, at times half of all the boats where capsized. Also I edited down the video to all the best bits.

Had a great time though, the rs500 is much easier to sail than the 29er I sailed last year.

RS has been very clever when designing the boat to make the important things well and the rest cheap and simple.

Good footage Martin.

How did you do, and what handicap rating is being used?

Are you going to the Eskimo at Blackpool?

Thanks Hector, didn't finish, ran out energy. sailed of PY 965 1 minute in front of the RS400. Yes going to Eskimo if Barbara[crew] feeling better, she's been sick all week, if not I will need a crew who can trapeze.

V3000 is currently trialing 1010
Laser Vago was released with 980 but at some clubs has subsiquently been change to around 1050....not sure what the official one is at the moment
Not sure about the small rig 500, though the XL rig is currently using 972 .

Actually, the 1010 for the V3000 is just a club number at Wilsonian SC, and doesn't seem unreasonable. As far as the class and the RYA are concerned it's 1030 until returns suggest otherwise.

In the Laser brochure they give the Vago PY as:
Standard single: 1100
Standard double: 1070
XD single: 1045
XD double: 1015

After sailing two races double-handed with the Vago XD in my usual handicap fleet, I'd say 1040 would be about right. Feels quicker, just isn't.
