Thanks everyone. I will stand my ground. A few breezy winter days and they'll be glad that the rescue boat has fuel!

A more pressing problem now is to work out how many days over Christmas Seabadger and myself can abandon the family and go sailing. (I have my mother staying, a non sailing husband and son - but an addicted daughter). I wonder if anyone will believe I "have" to go "shopping" on Christmas eve (and boxing day and the day after). - will they notice the wet sailing gear?

HAPPY CHRISTMAS

Hello Mrs Seabadger

while I think the prices you are charging for tea & coffee are perfectly reasonable I'm not sure I agree with putting up the cost of drinks to cover the cost of petrol!

I suppose I feel that 1. it penalizes visitors and non-sailors (who don't use the rescue boat services) and 2. it is rather an uncertain income stream because the sailors could quite easily boycott the drinks! I appreciate that this is highly unlikely given that we are talking about sailors here.

What about charging those who sail a fee for the fuel, and putting up subs / day sailing fees? It is not as if fuel is ever going to go down in price so we are all going to have to get used to paying more for things that use petrol/diesel.

all the best

Lucy

Yeah I think that's a great price compared to anywhere in a town/city or a service station etc. just tell them where to get their tea next time they complain- a thermos flask that they then have to carry around all day and potetially leave at home or in the boat when they leave! hahaha that'll tell em!

Hiya Seabadger's Mum,

I run the galley at our sailing club and the prices are 40p for a mug of tea and 50p for a Nescafé. We also charge 50p for a hot chocolate or a fizzy drinks can. Compared to other sailing clubs I have visited, this is very much middle-of-the-range.
As radixon and tgruitt have said, people are more encline to pay a little more and get better ingredients.

A couple of years ago, I had to increase prices by 10 to 30p across the whole range: I wrote a poster placed next to the till to explain the price increase and members were very understanding.

Good luck with your lot!

Have a great Christmas in the Seabadger's family and enjoy your sailing!

xxx BnS

40p...

Not saying how much, but direct the complainers to Rutland or Datchett

Yeh that sounds very reasonable to me! As mentioned before, as long as it has milk, sugar and tastes like tea then all should be happy!!!
