Personally I dont like the new RS mainsails.

While they look flash I'm enformed by a sailmaker that the fabric being used is not really upto the job but is cheap.

I'd rather they all had RS600/400 sail material as its a damn site stronger, and after you've flogged the new sails a few times you cant see through them anyway !

Anyone who has sailed a 300 will know the sail shape looks a bit rough compared to sails on other boats and creases are a good sign you are going fast.

The new sail is a prototype with testing this year as to performance and how long it will last. If the there is no difference between the two mains then it will go to a vote with the intention of both sails being class legal.

LDC has reduced it prices of the mains although I am not sure for what reason - getting rid of old stock, pressure from members of the CA, to out do Rooster Replica etc.

The good news is that LDC have listerned to the members of the CA and are taking steps to help produce something in conjuction with the CA that will tick all the boxes. Steve has been instrumental to this has had probably had the hardest time as class rep in guiding the class though this issue and politics involved.

Also, clear material has been used so that all other boats can see the grins on the 300 sailors faces!.

I popped down LDC yesterday and replaced my Mainsheet, Jib sheet, downhaul i had already bought some silver kite sheets.  All in that sexy looking maffolli stuff, had a go at splicing my downhaul tail, which was a nightmare as some pikey has stollen the fid i needed for that size rope it took me an hour to splice out of part of one of my daughtes pens!!

Have you not finished yet james???

You got those stickers off yet?

I remembered how I got a bloody Norfolk Broads sticker off. Used Brake cleaner known in the mechanic industry as Trike, worked a treat but took a bit of effort. Hairdryer is easiest to get the sticker off initially.

Rich you used Trike??? You mad b**tard.

Trike has been banned for a while now and is a particularly nasty substance although very good at what it was created for.

trichloroethylene is a contributing factor in almost a third of all fatalities in the UK’s surface engineering industry

Use of the potentially cancer-causing metal degreaser is continuing unabated, despite its use being curtailed by the Solvents Emissions Directive (SED) from October 31.

Gentle heat works on the Gul stickers, although judging by how many are seen floating around at opens, water is pretty effective !

I was wondering. It's nasty stuff. Still used in some areas though, especially aerospace, as change is a slow process.
