Those of you who are intersted could apply for a job as a civilian Weapons Control instructor working for the RAF, as adverstised in the local job centre.  The fact that there are only about 10 people in the country suitable for the job all of whom are either just leaving or have just left the same Job but in the RAF doesn't stop employment law forcing them to advertise it fairly!!  Although by not providing the requisite 5 years training (to a cost of nearly 1 million) and experience they are probably discriminating against everybody else.  Remember its your money there being forced to spend!!
I might be sailing it, but it's still sh**e!

Well if your going to vote in labour for three terms in a row then you've got to expect these pissy little discrimination laws to come about which make little or no sense whatsoever!
I was more annoyed when certain companies across england were banning employees from flying those england car flags when the world cup was going on.  Now im not a football fan, and i didnt like those flags but dont tell english people living in england that they cant support they're own home team because someone might (they wont) get offended!

I agree, why can't people just carry on with whatever they want to do as long as it isn't harming anyone!

On another note with the way this thread is going, what have I done!! I have started a fantastic 'have a rant' thread!!

How right you are worthy, but I have to object on the point above!

When I lived in Acton, W London I was called 'chalkie' on a number of occasions- I'm assuming the brovers (who were talking to me in jest), were referring to my lily-white frame as it entered the gym jacuzzi; either that or I have more than a passing resemblence for Rick Stein's long haired jack russell by the same name.... point is, you can't call it a 'chalk board' either as that would assume the education aid was another example systematic discrimination against ethnic minorities; you know somehow serrepticiously focusing attention at caucasian children only.

I was going to suggest we could refer to it as a classboard- we have a classroom after all; but then I realised that would be prejudiced against the chavier elements of the school...  how can they use a 'classboard' if they have no class to speak of?

Then I thought we could call it a 'Teachers Board'- it makes sense, there's no reference to pupils's genders, ethnicities, variable sexual orientations... it clearly refers back to the educator not the educatee... but some quick PC research indicated this too, is unacceptable.  According the Chair of the Association of Teaching With Assistant Teachers ( A.TWAT for short) this is in fact discriminiatory against unqualified teachers and classroom assistants- they too, rely on the teaching aid equally as much as someone with PGCE who couldn't decide what to do after university...

This is a PC minefield... what can we call a blackboard nowadays?  As I haven't read The Guardian for about 3 years or so, I'll shut up before I offend someone, but I really would quite like to know.

I'd like to suggest that it's referred to as a blackboard. Everyone knows it as a blackboard, for that is it's name. I don't think the word 'blackboard' ever offended anyone.

Just the potato sucking, tree hugging, sefl rightious, indignant, guardian reading saps with far too much time on their hands.

Were my skin actually a different colour to that which it is (a nicely windburnt shade of pink most of the time) , I'd actually be offended that some white middle class had taken the decision to change the name of a functional item because it contains the word black. That in itself implies that there is something sensitive about the word black, and we should thus avoid it.

tosspots.

Not all chemicals are bad. Without chemicals such as hydrogen and
oxygen, for example, there would be no way to make water, a vital
ingredient in beer.

We banned them becauseour lorries carry hazardous chemicals and they were a health & safety risk as they could distract the driver if one began working loose or something like that.

That and the fact that our Operations Director is Scottish. Personally I found that really funny because you could sense the glee in the memo he wrote!

The word black is considered to be offensive. That is why Baa Baa Black Sheep has been banned and most probably with the increase in obease people Humpty Dumpty wont be a pie eating fat b*st*rd for too long. God knows what they will make of Old King Cole - ageism & class distinction.

That would be funny if it wasnt so close to the truth - I somtimes wonder when and how there will be a reversal of all this PC rubbish.

I have never met anyone who things it's the way forward so why is it to prevalent in society?

We need a revolution ...

I think the majority of these PC madness examples are just made up by the tabloids.  From now on DO NOT use chalk boards and dry boards, DO NOT have coffee with or without milk and ITS NOT baa baa wooly sheep.

If people hear you using it and get annoyed, just tell them to shut the hell* up, its not against the law if it isn't used in a derogatory or racist manner.

* hell should NOT be substituted depending on the recipient’s religious faith either

Rick- have you ever asked any gipos, pikkies, chavs, teepees, lezzers, homos, bloaters, mongs, spassers, darkies, wogs, krauts, pakis, trannies, lop-jobs, hoes and/or bitches if they think it's a good idea?  Or did you just poll that socially diverse group of individiuals in the MPS fleet?

I have a diverse range of friends but not many who would identify with the above I have to say.

What are lop-jobs and teepees?
