I'l start us off by setting my self up for a ripping!

I decided that a friend and I should go and take part in the 2000 nationals because they were near by.

I had my reservations as too how much fun it was going to be but i have to admit I had a fantastic week. The standard of sailing was higher than i expected and I even met the girl of my dreams so u know!

We managed to finish 12th overall and were first youth which i am quite pleased with as it was the first time id helmed in a realatively big fleet and was my first nationals helming!

Best event for me this year for me was the Lord Birkett trophy. 200 boats on one start line. Everything from small cruisers(Sonata) and a Mirror to seven 18ft Skiffs. Really scary start. . Its amazing how much noise 200 boats make.

Great atmosphere and hats off to the Ulswater ferry which stood guard to windward of two windsurfers sitting in the middle of the lake whilst the whole fleet was bearing down on them at speed.

Just had a great weekend at Weymouth for the Laser Vago Nationals, for which we had twenty three boats and great racing in 25mph winds gusting to 40 at one stage on saturday. The event was great fun on and off the water, although I must admit to failing to complete either race on Sunday due to sinking induced by a disappearing hatch cover! Such is life!!!

That's quite a turn out for a new boat! Must be something good about it.

Will the Vagos be at the laser aysmetric regatta at Rutland this Autumn?

We will be there and hopefully we will have another good turn out, although I doubt it will ever compete with the Laser 2000 fleet for numbers, that would be horrid. As it stands at the moment everybody in the Vago fleet has a chance to chat to everybody else, including Jo Richards the designer, and that means we have a good friendly atmosphere on and off the water.

Think everybody in the 3000 fleet KNOWS everyone else!

So long as our builder "finishes off a few phantoms" in time.  There should be a few V3000s at Rutland too - including said builder & developer hopefully.

A (friendly - I hope) showdown at last. But if you guys field Jo Richards and he beats us all - I shan't be a tiny bit suprised!
