Which boat?

   Jon, if you want a boat you can fit in that has real performance, you have to get an FD. You are the perfect size for an FD crew, and even as a helm you'd be OK. If you want a go, let me know.

	The 5000 is one option but it might also be worth looking at the 12 foot skiff, the class is initially establishing itself in the UK, but reckon the boat might be quite well suited to your criteria. I'm not 100% sure about this (other people will correct me if I'm wrong) but I think there are quite a few teams weighing in between 160 to 180kg within the class in the Southern Hemisphere. The Beauty of the boat like the 18 foot skiff is that the rigs are scaled down for stronger conditions so if you are sailing as one of the heavier teams, you will have the advantage of holding the bigger rig in windier condition. There is one on the UK site for £5k and one which already has been sold for £3200. This link might be helpful http://www.12footskiff.com/ . Seems like a very good alternative to the 18 foot skiff without the hassle.

	What about a Laser 5000, a bit of a truck and a god awful kite system, but defintely built for two trapezing giants. Not very popular at the moment so can be picked up dirt cheap, a real mans boat!!!!

	Get a 59er, with your height and weight you would be ideal, it is designed for 145kg to 180kg. All the thrills and spills of a skiff with none of that silly trapezing malarky!

	Arrrrrrrgh! That reminds me of one of our members: when we first joined the club, Jack was about 12 and certainly shorter than me, having fun on the water in a Topper. Now, he's 18 (or 19?), he's 6ft8 and, to show goodwill, he took part in our Topper Open... The poor boy had his knees touching the boom at times . He's like you, jon2005, he's looking for another boat... Maybe you could get in touch?

	an sb3 is just such a large start price 15k+ which is quite a big deal for a 16yr old. Looks like im stuffed then although I have owned more cats than most, hobie 15, hobie 16, hobie fx one, hobie tiger. I guess the world of sailing dosnt have a perfect boat for me lol. I think i will try rowing next.....
