Lug is like a mirror, but the gaff isn't hoisted vertical with the mast, it's offset at an angle. I think.

what is a lug rig? is it when the front mast is smaller than the back mast or is it something to do with sprits etc?

The whole Drascome range is fomeomenally poplear in Chichester harbour: they look great for going to a sandbank for a picnic etc. They do not however look like great sailing boats (in terms of excitement, I mean!) The Lugger is an imposter too, not being lug rigged and all. Me and the Dog would love one for pottering....

We use one as our committee boat. Stays on a mooring all season (usually on the layline to finish line ). It's green. That's all know about them.

Yeah yeah OK, that pic came from Russia or something... There's another closer to home (Ireland), complete with 2 dogs. I can't see the picnic or the booze, but you might want to ask the dogs........

BTW, the Drascombe lugger's normal rig isn't anything like as interesting as the one in that picture. They carry lots of booze if going on a picnic, and can be left afloat, but I can't think of any other good points, really...

I had to replace half the side of an Ent once which had been rammed by a Pico!

So, lots of damage, but none to the Pico! Good luck with the chain saw... You might try putting it on the roof rack, not tying it down, and then driving off, very carefully, till it flies off at about 40 mph...
