Often beat asymetric boats by goose-winging straight to the bottom mark. But I think they have more fun! Sometimes to travel is better than to arrive Has anyone tried a conventional kite on an asymetric boat?

Maybe carry all three options and deploy according to need? Choosing between a symetric and asymetric would add an extra dimension to racing. |

the pole loop on the frount a 200 mast would have been from the good old days of 200'ing when you could goose wing the kite using a wisker pole. Alowing you to run really deep. we caused havok at our club with it!

It is mainly home build at this stage. There are 3 being built by a boat builder at the moment in Seattle. There are a couple of home builders that are thinking of building extra boats. Currently there is no large scale builder for the class. It will be interesting to see what develops in this area as the class grows. |

That was why the 59er arrived. The theory was that to use an asymetric kite it had to be faster than running deep in all conditions. The only problem was that in achieving this aim the hull form was tippier and the sail area greater than many people that simply wanted a hiking boat would accept. It is a great boat but a big leap from a Tasar - which is also a great boat that is not so intimidating for the average club sailor. |

I haven’t got it in my hands yet… but I should be getting a Vareo kite soon for my asymmetric 12 project and a cursory check over all the vital dimensions shows that an RS200 spinni pole would be perfect for the pointed end. As effectively the main spinni pole slides within an outer tube making mounting the pole a good deal simpler, however the whole kit is £160+ Unlikely question does any one know of a 200 pole and outer tube sitting in a garage some where, perhaps bent but repairable, that I may be able to get cheap. More likely question. Has any one got a source of cheap, suitable tubing... and ideally suitable plastic bushs... that would enable me to make my own Ian |

Might be worht trying sailboatdeliveries.com, they often have lots of bits and pieces from RS's lying around. |
