Isnt it amazing how so many people forget about the rig when boats capsize?! Its not like it aint the least bit bloody obvious!!

grrr bloody jetskiers - still funniest thing I have seen was sailing an 800 out in greece, we started racing a jet skier, who obviously didnt know much about handling rough weather, henose dived into a wave and supermanned over the front before being run over the by the still moving bike! SUCKER!!!!!!!!!!!
Any one in need of quality carbon fibre work (tillers etc) at decent prices!

I'd like to say that jet skiers cutting through the middle of races is rare at lee, unfortunatly its all too common. I nearly had my 29er rig destroyed by a pillock who didnt even realise that a capsized dinghy has a mast sticking out sideways, let alone that the he shouldnt have been in the sailing area. Everything pales into insignificance though compared to the idiot who waterskied through the middle of the sailing area during a cadet sailing session.

I don't have a problem with waterskiing or jetskiing in general, just the minority of idiots who dont realise that the beach is segregated into zones for a reason!

the jet-skiers are just as bad, one idiot thought it would be a buzz to cut between a ferry coming into the pontoons, less than a few foot of space to get through. We just thought "Bloody idiot".

on returning to our home port, whilst we respect that motor gives way to sail, one of your dingys  with 2 males on board turns 180 degrees round one of your orange bouys, 45 - 50 metres away, started waving his fist and shouting abuse (even though we had changed course to avoid any possibility of a collision) unfortunatly, by now my husband had had enough of this abuse and returned a few unplesantrys!

You must realise it is unrealistic to go behind a sailing vessel that has completly changed course.

Why, oh why, can't they go somewhere else? Not too far....
Greenland?

Yep, that was basically my answer, but trying to be polite and reasonable (I can do diplomatic when I try).

The killer phrase in my answer was:

"Should you wish to pursue this complaint further, I would advise you to contact the commodore: commodore@lancingsc.org.uk."

Contender443 was extatic when he read that!

They really are stupid. They shoudl have some test before they are allowed on the water at all. "This is a dinghy race. They travel around a variety of these orange ball things, known in the marine industry as bouys or marks."
