TVR Paint job

Yes is the simple answer! It's a pearlescent colour with what's known as a 'flip'. Mica flakes in the base coat cause the effect you are after. Even more dramatic effects can be got with holographic flake. It's a clear-over-base system, so quite a lot of paint has to go on, so would be quite heavy and expensive. The clear coat is 2-pack lacquer, so plenty durable enough. Been contemplating doing something like that with my Contender for a while now.

Unless you have access to the tools, ie, a spray room in a comercial garage, it's going to be a major hassle to do by yourself. Professionally, you are looking at the very minimum of £2k upwards for a boat builder to do it in basic colours, reckon closer to the region of £3k to £5k with that sort of paint scheme. Might be worth giving RMW a ring for advice, they might do it for a cost or give you the details of how to do it and take the list of how you want to do it and get a quote from your local garage's spray-shop but be ready for a few strange looks. "You mean to say that you want us to strip a boat and paint it????? "......... . It is possible to keep the weight down but you have to be careful of how far you take the original hull finish back and usually best to leave it to the profesionals.
