If you had a grand to spend and wanted to get some thing fast what would you get.

Are boats like the Boss or Laser 5000 around for this much

What would people spend there money on

Ian

PS you can probably guess why I'm asking the question!

Have a look on the 5000 class association site, my old boat is up for sale again, and should be well worth a look. It's going for £1200 but reckon you might get it back to a grand (GBR 5071). Was really well looked after and by the sound of it, still is.......If I had £1000 to spend on a boat, I would definately be haggling for it.

If you could find a 600 for that I think that would offer excellent value for money.

If you dont mind single handed sailing then I think a 600 is definatly the way to go.  You'll have me and Steve (tinnams) to race against if you decide to pop along to wilsonian.  And I dont mind modding the boat for you if you get one.
Otherwise i think a boss may be your best bet, the seem to go for stupidly little money.  There may well be one for sale at our club soon but im not sure how much for.

In that case talk to luke tharpe from wilsonian.  Im under the impression he wants to sell his boss.  I think its in fairly good condition but im not sure how much he's asking for it.  If its a good price you wont even have to tow it anywhere, you can just sail it to medway.
Unless of course you want to actualy race the thing against other skiffs then just leave it where it is and come back to the best club on the medway.

If I only had a grand and I wanted to sail two person boats then I'd look for a crewing job and keep the dosh.
