I realise this might not be quite on-forum, but I have no idea where else to post this. My old laser hull has finally died, irrepairable cracks around the bottom of the cockpit.

My question is what do you do with an old boat. Is there an eco-friendly way or should I just stick it on the car and take it to the local tip ?

It's a good question. I'm assuming that GRP boats are a bit of an eco-disaster. Does anyone know of a green way of disposal?

If not future archeologists are going to be very puzzled by the buried boats... I can see an evolutionary tree of dinghies being discussed... what would be the missing link though?

Just had a brain wave. You could ask an issurance company what they do with write offs. Noble Marine? Are you out there?

Do what most people do - join a club with a very large dinghy compound then forget where you left it, forget to keep the compound space clear of weeds and bramble then forget to rejoin the followinig year.

You can do this with any age of boat depending on how much money you want to throw away.

chew is full of them, occasionally they go round, find them and auction them off, the others not worth keeping, probabley cover them with petrol, launch them and throw a match on them
