Its a funny old world isn't it!  I wonder how many of the people in any class who complain that a newer boat/biulding technique is faster would also complain that those people who go to the gym two-three times a week and get out and train regularly are faster.  Perhaps you could introduce class rules outlawing people with too higher O2 Max scores from competing as not everyone has access to the Gym or is still young enough! I imagine FRP Solos are quicker, so what! When I was at uni the Self draining 12s were quicker than mine, did I moan that I couldn't afford one? Or did I just try a bit harder?  Many classes have introduced prizes for older boats and there is a lot of kudos in beating some of the newer boats and walking away with some silverware and a nice prize sailing one.

The issue is entirely phsycological, and I perceive it to lie in the mid-fleet warriors (not all of them or even a majority of them) who are worried about one place here or there in 20s. I believe someone wrote something very interesting and poigniant (spelling BNS?) in another thread. Which I'll para-phrase as 'If you can't win in the national champions boat then the problem is not with your boat!'

I might be sailing it, but it's still sh**e!

Shame, as the boat looks great.

Dear oh dear oh dear, what is going on here, the osprey forum seems down. The osprey was a fantastic boat from the days of my youth, and would appear to self destructing... why? What's the story mornin glory?

Guys, please bear with it.  The new boat is fantastic, and more news hopefully after the weekend.

Although not certain yet what the results of the weekend's meeting are we got to sail against 1317 this weekend. Bird of Prey looked absolutely fantastic as she was put together in the morning and we  are waiting more eagerly than ever for ours to arrive.  Certainly not cancelling our order!

That said - it was nice to lead her round the course! I hope this shows Mk3s and below are not going to be automatically beaten by the Mk4s - which is excellent news. Doesn't stop us wanting our new boat, though!

So what, pray tell, is the current position? Does the Osprey class have a Mk IV and / or builder?

I guess they are dealing with the issues.

I hope they sort it ... I sailed Andy Barkers boat with Vyv Townend at an Osprey Open once; good event; I have never had such a bad hangover on a Sunday at a sailing event. They do know how to enjoy a beer.

I thank all people for keeping their comment to a minimum and there should be a full statement on our Web site within the next 24 hours. The class is still working at the issues but as class chairman I would hope we can keep comment to fact not fiction

Thanks to you all

Nick J Jones
