Where can I get a relatively small amount of woven carbon Fibre sheet say 0.5 - 1sqm? and any ideas how much that much is likely to cost.
Thanks |

What's it for? Do you know what weight and orientation you want?

First link worked - just have to delete the view item from the end.
I intend to try and make a mainsheet tower for my contender, since I think I should be up to it... Any winter Cherub builders have off cuts at least 100mm x 600mm, I need enough to lay up a thickness of about 7mm, although might go for 10 as I'm not too worried about weight. Thanks |

7mm wall thickness!!! are you planning on repeatedly beating said mainsheet tower with a mallet?
You may well be better of modding something like a bit of mast instead. From memory the contender towers go over the centerboard case with a slot in the middle? how much of a gap do you need? |

![]() ![]() Strawberry - couldn't send these via private messenger. Isis I am going to have to slightly modify the design so want to ensure plenty of strength. |

Do or Do not... There is no try
![]() Slightly different concept really as our swivels are supposed to be low profile and unobtrusive (as well as having the rope comming from a totaly different angle).. this needs to be tall enough to clear the centreboard when up and is balicaly just a bracket. Cant help thinking you'd be better of doing something like this though if its your first time working with carbon.. saves the effort of building a mould. Bit of carbon mast/rack/pole with a slot cut through and a wooden/nylon/whatever plug in the end to mount your swivel. ![]() No comments on sh*tty quality of artwork... im bored, but not THAT bored Edited by Isis |

Only problem I see with this is fixing it adequately to the deck and find a broken section of mast or boom to play with.

Bog it in, fillet the join and a layer of uni-d with some lightweight glass/carbon cloth on top should do the trick...
Where abouts are you based? Looking around the back of your dinghy park and asking around the members (particularly 800 sailors) could be a plan. |
