I only go to work for the money.

Anyone who doesn't needs their head checking!!!!

Another good formula is to work out before going into a job interview:

take the cost of an average property near your sailing club
add in the cost of sensible tow-worthy car
add the cost of the boat of your dreams (the realistic dream)
add about 15% to account for interest rates and consilidation debts
divide by 25 years then divide by 12 months
add £500 beer allowance- and there's your basic cost of living for a typical sailor.

You may also need the following optional extras:

food
women
music
winter sports vacations

All the above come at variable rates depending on whether you plan to live in Kent or Essex.

Genius. but £500 a month on beer seems a little excessive

Does it?

no not really- not when you include the following in your calculations:

- beer
- shots you can't remember drinking
- drinks for wife/girlfriend/target pull of the night
- rohypnol (if the above isn't working)
- breathe mints from the vending machine
- condoms from the vending machine (hit the right button this time)
- kebab/curry/pizza with anchovies
- taxi home

Yous said beer money. no mention was made of peripherals!

What do you do with the tgt while your waiting for the kebab/curry/pizza?...or shouldn't I ask?

I might be sailing it, but it's still sh**e!

Marvellous advice Dave & TT.  Sorted for meeting with the head honcho for next week. Just spent 4 hours in 'spoons at Farringdon, marvellous, and now need ibuprofen. (I think it must have been dodgy Stella.)

Yeah I had a dodgy pint in there once, made me fall over and miss the train home! Never gone in there since.

Next week leave Farringdon, turn left towards Clerkenwell Green.  At the lights turn left and follow your nose untill you reach the Griffin. About a ten minute walk at the most.  This is easily the best pub in the area, top totty in there too . I cannot recommend this pub highly enough (and I've been in a few).

The Griffin it is then.  I shall be there.  Feedback will be forthcoming.

March the 20th is a very important day. In fact I have several days marked on my calender that have a similar theme.

Mark has made the classic mistake of mentioning it to his wife TOO far in advance, this will give her plenty of time to find excuses not to cook steak for tea.

And of course don't forget the two veg as well.  Often neglected and deserve more attention sometimes.

Wife has birthday today, so am cooking beef wellington.  She is back from work early, so greeted her at the door wife a glass of champers and she is now on the 3rd. Hopefully all done and dusted and everything will be hunky dory for 9pm as I will be suffering from Life on Mars withdrawal symptoms at this time.

When such hard decisions have to be made a train journey normally helps to clear my mind.
