Hi There I need your advice, which is the best yachting foulies to go for? I would probably need something offshore/coastal. I have seen XM yachting clothing and It looks quite good for a reasonable price. Has anyone any experience with this make? Thanks Tom |

You get what you pay for and if you are sailing regularly it is worth getting the best you can afford. People have mixed opinions of XM. Bumble's suggestion of a wetsuit is not good advice. You don't want to be spending days in a wetsuit.

Depends if you desperately want breathable gear. I've got Gill non
breathables which I think were the same price or slightly more than the
XM breathable stuff. I chose it becuase it felt better fabric, the XM
stuff feels like thin nylon (this was 2 or 3 years back though). Mine
were £130 for the suit (Southern Cross) and they've been fantastic for
me, I don't race or even sail yachts much but I have done some long
trips and they've been fine then.

I've used breathable and non-breathable. Breathable are definitely more comfortable in certain situations (overnight sailing or working enough to sweat, not raining or heavy spray). Whether you think they are worth the money is a personal choice.

Does anyone know of a manufacturer that does genuinely large sizes. The last pair of hi-fit wet gear trousers had to go back to get a gusset fitted as they ripped between the legs first time on. Most suppliers seem to stock no larger than XL, occasionally XXL.
