Depending on exactly how your system runs, you can often get round blocks by using a subdomain
For example, our college network blocks http://www.ebay.co.uk but http://sports.ebay.co.uk works fine |

our school blocks anything with pictures, videos, games, ebay, adverts, anything. cant even use sneakysurf anymore.
