Taking the Mugglewump post in 'Give a boat a bad name' as an
example... do you think poeple get like their boats... or boats like their people... like pets tend to do...? Does the class you end up sailing say soemthing about who you are... what are the stereotypes for certain classes... Se I could never imagine a fat 49er sailor, for example... they just have to be suntanned, and I couldn't imagine Robbie Williams sailing a Funboat, but I could see him in a RS700...! |

On that basis..... You would need to be a large carniumed octogorilla to sail the Int. Canoe Large carnium - to hold lage amount of brain req. for multi tasking to the extreme Octa - need 8 arms for all those tasks Gorilla - you need the strenght of one! Oh yes and for good measure, you need to be made of rubber, preferably a floating type! How do you sail one of those? In admiration of all Int. canoe sailors Edited by headfry |

I'm really small and crew a javelin - it doesn't matter too much
as long as you enjoy what you are sailing |

The Canoe takes a range of sizes/weights/ages. The "ideal" crew weight is quoted at 10 - 13.5 stone, though I'm 6'4" & 15.5 stone and seem to manage OK. In reality they are a little different to sail but are more forgiving than you think though I still get very wet (one day I'll be able to do corners........) They are probably no more demanding than other boats, after all you spend all your time sitting down rather than hiking or dangling off a wire, though the class related injuries are likely to be unique to the Canoe - friction caused by repeated sliding up and down the seat can lead to interesting rashes/friction burns.
